Top Favorite Super Bowl Commercials

I'm sure many persons like myself look forward to the Super Bowl for more reasons than just the game... The commercials of course. Every year I watch to see what advertising genius companies like Budweiser, Doritos and the likes will entertain us with. This year I have to say I was a bit disappointed. Was it me or did the advertising seem more network or movie generated and a lesser number of "brand" promotions? Nonetheless here are a few of my favorites.
I think Betty White is one of the funniest people EVER! Snicker's scored big with this commercial. It's number one in my book.

Destiny Fulfilled

So I'm not as big of a fan as the average football lover but when it comes down to the Super Bowl, I tend to put my five cents in along with everyone else. This year I couldn't tell you the stats of the two teams vying for the championship but I do know that "destiny" played a big factor in the win. That along with the fact that the New Orleans Saints is the typical story. Here you have a team, the Saints, who had everything against them and you had a winning team (Colts) that looked more like a line-up of All-Star players. At the helm of the team was Peyton Manning, arguably the best quarterback in NFL history, a slew of more experienced players and a record of having won a Super Bowl in the past. Yet the New Orleans Saints, a team that knows all too well about rebuilding and beating odds, (recovering from Katrina) had too much against them and still they did what many didn't think possible... They brought the franchise back to its former glory. The Saints were down 10-0 in the first quarter and came back to tie the game by the second half before tromping the Colts and taking the lead in the third quarter to win the game.
Leading Saints quarterback and now Super Bowl XLIV MVP, Drew Brees said it best, "This was meant to be. It's all destiny." Call it a destiny fulfilled that no one thought would be realized. What's even more amazing is the connection between the Saints and Manning's father who was the Saints starting quarterback in his day. And yet the Saints went Marching in on a a blaze of destiny and now Super Bowl glory, capturing the win with a 31-17. Oh when the saints, go marching in...

New Music: Fantasia Barrino - Even Angels

Got this song on replay. I'm feeling this single from the soon to be released third album from Fantasia. If she makes more music like this, she's about to be on her way to a great follow up to her last projects. The words alone. Love the uplifting message. Very positive. If they make this the first single I hope the video doesn't disappoint...

The Love Notes

I remember as a young teen when I thought I knew everything about love, I kept a MEAD salt n pepper notebook. You know the "ole school" books you kept everything in. I wrote the words of my favorite love songs in those books. Started to find my voice in poetry. Even dabbled in song writing and art; the ones that always ended with a heart being drawn in a few ways. Those were my outlets and then they became my life journals. I didn't realize the passion back then but I knew I was always a sucker for a love story and that's what ole school R&B of the 90s did for me.
After hearing a song I would always pick up that notebook lay on my bed and write whatever I wanted to. I remember being as young as 11 and listening to love songs that made you cling to every word. REWIND was my friend and back then when you had cassette tapes, I would rewind the tapes so much that I always ended up getting them tangled to the point of having to get a new one. lol But these songs were so inspiring, they made me dream, made me fall in love with the idea of LOVE. I became a helpless romantic at a very young age. To me love was about self-sacrifice, the element of surprise, affection. Love was a look, a communication of I'm sorry, I need you, an understanding between lovers. Love was a continuous song that told a story and that's why I loved the way music was music back then. It didn't have to be wrapped in a box, or come in the form of a flower. Love to me was always best in its simplest form. A simple love note, a letter, and a song where the words communicate the feeling... Those made the best memories.
I've often been told that I'm easy to please when it comes to presents especially around Valentine's Day. Give me a teddy bear I smile and express my sincere appreciation. Give me a flower and I would do the same. Write me a love letter and I would lock myself up in my room, put on my favorite love song, dim the lights and sometimes even light a candle and just read. Silly right? But not many understood how much I valued love in the simplest form because to me real love requires REAL work, hard work, hard sacrifice, continuous expressions and reinventing yourself. You can say I love you but nothing says I love you more than taking the time and caring enough to put more effort in what you communicate your feelings of love to be. I'm not a fan of commercializing love where it becomes a sensationalized object of ONE DAY. You may disagree with me but I've always felt the need to protect things and people I love. Call me private but in a sense I rather be called selfish in this instance because to me the best part about love is the moments when no one is watching. Just a thought...

Love Note:
"There are 12 months a year...30 days a month...7 days a week...24 hours a day...60 minutes an hour...but only one like you in a lifetime. "

J Hud versus THE VOICE

I've heard many renditions of this song and no one has ever come close to matching up to Whitney... Then there was Jennifer Hudson. On the third season of idol we can't soon forget the power box that belted out several of Whitney's number one hits. Now six years later, Jennifer Hudson did what only few can do when she hit every chord as she sang I Will Always Love You almost as good as Whitney did over a decade ago. Worthy mention I'll say...
